I’m going to tell you how to be happy in 3 simple steps.
- Become aware of how you are thinking.
- Change the thoughts you are thinking that are making you unhappy.
- Do this until it becomes a habit.
It’s really that simple. But it is not that easy. Which is why my blog isn’t done, even though I’ve shared the answer.
If your mind is like mine then it is just always going on; seriously, it never stops, and it rarely seems to be contemplating what it’s supposed to be. Paying attention to that endless prattle in your head is kind of depressing actually, which is why we are always finding ways to shut it off.
Who has the time and energy to monitor their thoughts? And then on top of that, change them all? Not to mention you have to think up happy thoughts to change them to — ones you can believe. It’s probably not going to work anyway, because it never has, because you can never stick with it long enough to become a habit.
It turns out that there are clever ways to increase awareness without overwhelm, make changes without harshness, and see progress that makes you want to keep at it. It’s a process, and I’d like to share some of it with you. Sharing will help hold me accountable to staying in the process. Where ever you are at, I hope some of my experiences will speak to you, and offer you new possibilities.
Thank you for joining with me,
Julie
